At its Ordinary Meeting held on 10 December 2024, Council resolved to adopt Amendment No.21 to Local Planning Scheme No.4 (LPS4) to advertise.
Amendment No.21 proposes to rezone Lot 6 Helena Valley Road and Lot 9001 Carabeen Avenue, Helena Valley, from Rural Residential to Development.
Its main purpose being to rezone to a zoning which is consistent with the subject lots' Urban zoning under the Metropolitan Region Scheme, the Shire's Foothills Growth Strategy, and their Urban designation under the Western Australian Planning Commission's North-East Sub-Regional Planning Framework.
In accordance with LPS4, the objective of the proposed Development zoning is:
"To provide for the orderly planning of large areas of land for residential and other purposes through comprehensive structure planning which will provide the basis for future subdivision and development."

What happens after the public comment period
Once the advertising period has concluded the Shire will review all of the submissions received. A report will then be prepared by Shire Officers for Council to consider whether to support the proposal with or without modifications.
