Twenty-three local community groups and sporting clubs joined together to host the Connecting Community Expo from 9.30 to 11.30am. The event was very successful in bringing community groups together to raise awareness, facilitate partnerships and provide networking opportunities. Around 70 volunteers were involved, representing their organisation/group and providing fun and interactive activities for the community. With the end of the Expo at 11.30am, volunteers remained to take part in the Celebrating Community Awards which recognised the contribution of 27 volunteers and volunteer groups, for their significant and valued contribution to the community. Family and friends were present to help the nominees celebrate, as well as Shire Councillors and local Members of Parliament. Certificates of Appreciation signed by the CEO of Volunteering Australia were sent to all stallholders who participated on the day. Celebrating Community Award recipients were given certificates and a gift from the Shire and a certificate from the Department of Communities to recognise their contribution.

The list of recipients can be found on the Shire's website.
