Nominations open Monday 6 November 2023
The nomination period has now closed. A report will be presented to Council to appoint external members to the Cultural Advisory Group in early 2024.
If you are a dedicated champion of cultural diversity and heritage, the Shire is calling upon individuals like you, who are ready to shape the future of our community and make real impact.
The Cultural Advisory Group provides strategic advice to Council and be the community voice in matters related to arts, culture and heritage. A key focus is to provide advice on incorporating arts, culture and heritage into the Shire’s strategic and operational plans, celebrating the achievement of local organisations, artists and cultural providers that support the rich natural heritage and artistic traditions of the region. The group seeks opportunities to raise awareness of and involvement by residents in community cultural projects and uses a variety of cultural mediums to highlight what is unique about the Shire of Mundaring as a place to live, work and visit.
External members should possess experience and a background in matters related to arts, culture and heritage. The composition of the group encourages a diverse range of perspectives, ideas and recommendations with members representing a broad spectrum of the cultural sector.
Potential applicants for the role of external member are required to provide a statement on their skills and experience in order to be considered for appointment. Formal qualifications are welcome but not essential. We are also looking for people who are knowledgeable and passionate about arts, culture and heritage who are engaged in local community initiatives.
The Charter provides for up to 12 community members, to be appointed for a two year term (November 2023 – October 2025). This is in addition to a council member. Meetings are usually held on Thursday mornings from 9.30am. As per the Charter there will be two meetings per year, but more may be scheduled based on matters being considered or if called for by Council.
Community members must be prepared to attend meetings, read through agendas, and follow the guidance of the presiding member in following meeting procedures. Please read the Charter (see link in Document Library to the right of the screen) before submitting your nomination.
Nominations close at 4pm on Friday 24 November 2023 and can be submitted by completing the nomination form below or by emailing a statement on your skills and experience to shire@mundaring.wa.gov.au. Alternatively, you can submit your statement to the Shire Administration building, 7000 Great Eastern Highway Mundaring 6073. If you are posting it, allow time for delivery before the closing date.
At the close of the advertising period, a report will be presented to Council to appoint external members to the Cultural Advisory Group.
